What is YES!? This program teaches youths of all ages about the basics of fire and home safety, as well as more advanced training in safety and emergency concepts for older, more experienced youths.
What’s taught?
• For young children: fire safety education including “stop, drop & roll”, lighters & matches, using 911, touring the fire station
• For older children: developing a home escape plan, touring the fire station, identifying hazards in the home, handling emergencies, interviews with firefighters and other emergency response personnel, Heimlich maneuver

Why use this program? Most non-vehicular accidents and injuries occur in and around the home, and most can be prevented. The effects of accidents that can’t be prevented can be mitigated through the understanding and calm application of basic safety procedures. This program teaches these preventative measures, safety procedures, and instills confidence that will help youths deal with emergencies.

Who would benefit from this program? Subjects and concepts are tailored to the audience based on their age, experience and interests.
• Cub and Boy Scout Troops
• Brownie and Girl Scout Troops
• Religious Youth Groups
• Pre-School/Kindergarten Students
• Athletic Youth Groups
• Summer Camp
• Any other organized youth group

This is a serious program and not a means to entertain youths. Please do not try to schedule parts of this for birthday parties or other social events.

How do I schedule the training? Contact Susan Orsini (Education Coordinator) by leaving a message on her pager at 571-219-1955, or e-mailing her at stnbyqueen@verizon.net, to make an appointment or to find out more about the program.
