Additional Information

First Vehicles

The department's first fire truck was purchased for $500 by the Burke Communities Civic Association. It was a war surplus, 1932 Ford truck, purchased from the Annandale Fire Department. This pumper became known affectionately as "Old Red". In the spring of 1950, the BVFRD bought a new fire truck, a 1 and 1/2 ton Ford truck. "Old Red" now became a reserve pumper.
