Fire Damages Station

At 1:54 on the morning of January 10th, 1997, a fire was discovered by on duty personnel in the fire station. The blaze significantly damaged the building and six emergency vehicles parked inside. The department was grateful that none of the 11 people inside were injured. Despite this loss, services continue to be provided to the Burke community. A temporary trailer was placed outside the damaged facility and had one fire engine running out of a building that used to house a specialty unit. This was replaced with a larger temporary facility consisting of a four-module trailer system and large military style tent to house the equipment needed to restore full services to the community.
