Supporting the BVFRD

The Burke Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing top quality emergency and non-emergency services to the citizens of our community. Our department, in a cooperative arrangement with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, is responsible for the financial support for a significant portion of the operating expenses of the Burke station, including:

* Repayment of the outstanding loan for the new fire station and hall
* Purchase of all fire and EMS apparatus
* Maintenance of the fire station and hall

In addition, the volunteer organization funds a variety of public education programs for the community, including Citizen CPR, scout training programs, baby-sitter safety classes, and many other activities.

The community has always provided excellent support to our organization through our annual fund drives and other donations. When we lost our station and all of our equipment to fire in 1997 the citizens rallied behind us to help build our new station and replace or repair the lost equipment. WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! We have replaced our vehicles and our new station and hall are completed but we still must continue to purchase vehicles to replace aging units, we have a loan to deal with on the building, and we must equip and maintain the facilities.
